Thursday, January 5th, Noon - 3pm
on

The Whips
Saturday, January 7th, 3pm - 6pm
on
Todd-o-phonic Todd's show
Philadelphia, formerly known for whipped cream cheese will now be known for The Whips! Power-pop sleaze, glammed-up garage, raw surf and unlimited hooks with an innocent self-aware knack for pop, while harnessing the spirit of pre-punk and 50's rock rebellion. Works for me! Catch them live at Friends & Lovers in Brooklyn later that evening for the 3rd Anniversary of their Soul Night starring our own Mr. Fine Wine and One Mint Julep.

D:O Radio's best-of-2016 (part 1)
Sunday, January 8th, 9am - Noon
on
destination: OUT (on Give the Drummer Radio stream)
So 2016 sucked in epic fashion in many, many ways. One way in which it didn't suck? New music. Jeff & Jeff will celebrate some of the good that came out of this past year with two shows highlighting the wonderful sounds - new and old - that emerged out of the muck and mire.

Damn You, 2016—Goddamn You to Hell!!!
Monday, January 9th, 3am - 6am
on
Circle Time with Mark R.
Mark remembers some of the giants this sordid year 2016 mercilessly snatched from us, including Prince, Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Emerson, Lake and That Guy from Negativland, among others too numerous to list here.

Kuniya
Wednesday, January 11th, 3am - 6am
on What Was Music? with Marcel M

Through his hauntingly restrained approach, Kuniya paints a vivid landscape that owes as much to the space between as it does to the music itself. Though he is clearly respectful of the past, his music looks forward with a timeless freshness. Visiting the US for the first time from Miyazaki, Japan, Kuniya makes his WFMU debut.

Bob Mann & Rolling Thunder PLUS Mungo Jerry
Saturday, January 14th, 3pm - 6pm
on
Todd-o-phonic Todd's show
Bob Mann & Rolling Thunder features numerous members of ace combo Hector's Pets, Bob Mann's album title Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget aptly sums up their no frills but highly effective take on American rock'n'roll. Also this Saturday, Ray Dorset the longtime frontman of Mungo Jerry joins Todd-O-Phonic Todd for another hard-hitting Q&A session. While obviously best known for the smash hit "In The Summertime", Mungo Jerry also recorded rock'n'roll stompers like "Baby Jump" and "Little Miss Hipshake". They will be making a rare local appearance at The Brooklyn Night Bazaar on July 24th.
