This guitar-and-drums duo returns to WFMU with heavy riffs, catchy songs, and explosive playing. They pull off sexy and bludgeoning at the same time! They quit their jobs soon after their last WFMU appearance in 2014 and have been touring nonstop ever since!

Michael welcomes Mack Hayes of The Countdown 5, who created a huge regional following in Galveston Beach, but never cracked the national charts. We’ll delve into the history of this fascinating band and the mid '60s college party crowd Texas scene.

Fri, Nov 30th – Icepick to the Moon tells the story of Fred Lane (born Tim Reed) and his various collectives of Dada weirdos. It’s essential viewing for any fan of the offbeat underground scene of the early ’80s. It’s not screening anywhere else, so don’t miss it! 8pm, $12. Tickets here.

Sat, Dec 1st – Comedian Brett Davis (The Special Without Brett Davis, HBO, Adult Swim) presents “John Gentle: A Lone-Man Show,” a one-man show about a pitiable former adjunct college professor and self-published poet from Passaic who tells gauche stories about his life. Also on the bill: A short film from WFMU’s own Darren. 8pm, $12. Tickets here.
