Upcoming Specials on WFMU
David Schecter of Monstrous Movie Music (Pt. 2)
Tuesday, January 22nd, 7pm - 8pm
on Morricone Island with Devon E. Levins

Monstrous Movie Music is a CD label specializing in previously unavailable 1940s-1970s film music of the finest composers working that era even though most are virtually unknown. MMM's initial releases were "re-recordings" faithfully restored and orchestrated by the label's co-founder Kathleen Mayne, all with striking covers painted by horror artist Robert Aragon and science fiction illustrator Vincent DiFate, and meticulously researched liner notes by owner David Schecter, who discusses the label for a second week.

Erica Buettner
Saturday, January 26th, 6am - 9am
on Shrunken Planet with Jeffrey Davison

Erica Buettner's first album, True Love and Water (2011), was steeped in the sound of the British folk revival. After moving back to the U.S. from Europe, she was diagnosed with cancer, which meant that work on her second recording, The Book of Waves, was put on hold until it was released in 2018. While still retaining its folk roots, the new record has richer, more complex arrangements.

BBQT
Saturday, January 26th, 3pm - 6pm
on Todd-o-phonic Todd's show

BBQT invade The Todd-O-Phonic Todd show performing songs from their 2018 album Let's Go (No Front Teeth Records) and more. BBQT are fronted by the illustrious Gabbie Bam Bam and play high energy glam infused rock'n'roll.

Zina Bozzay on Vadalma's Debut Album Music of Elderflowers: Music From Hungary
Saturday, January 26th, 6pm - 9pm

on Transpacific Sound Paradise with Rob Weisberg
Vadalma is a transcontinental trio that performs new arrangements of Hungarian traditional songs. The group just released an excellent debut album, Music of Elderflowers. We'll also hear some of the source recordings that inspired the trio's versions - including the band's own field recordings.

William Tyler
Monday, January 28th, 3:01pm - 6pm
on Scott Williams's show

Nashville guitarist William Tyler continues to expand the vocabulary of country music with his new album "Goes West", released this week on Merge. He'll perform a solo acoustic set on Scott's show on Monday January 28.
