French virtuoso guitarist Stephane Wrembel discusses his 12th "Django a GoGo Festival" celebrating the music of Django Reinhardt. In addition to leading The Django Experiment and The Stephane Wrembel Band, Stephane composed the theme to Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris," performed in Hans Zimmer's supergroup at the 2012 Academy Awards and has scored a number of films.

When asked what inspired her latest album, Mazy Fly, Berkeley-based artist Spellling (born Chrystia Cabral) credits clowns, witches, Stevie Wonder’s 'Journey Through The Secret Life Of Plants,' Ursula K. LeGuin, The Neverending Story, and Miranda July. The album is as adventurous and fantastical as her list of influences suggest, like a carnival set to music with her jarring yet dreamy voice at the center. 

Tough Shits, Sonny and The Sunsets, The Smarthearts and Reese McHenry

on Todd-o-phonic Todd's show 
In this killer show, Todd will feature four live bands, all on tour with new albums. Two are from Philly: Tough Shits and The Smarthearts. The West Coast brings us Sonny and The Sunsets, and Northern Minnesota brings us Reese McHenry. From rock'n'roll to busted beach-pop songs, to catchy as hell punk songs and powerful voices, this show celebrates all of their vibrant and endless creativity.

David Cousins of the Strawbs 
Monday, April 22nd, 9am - Noon 
on Surface Noise with Joe McGasko 
For over 50 years, David Cousins has been the mainstay of the Strawbs. The Strawbs originally played American bluegrass and folk music before linking up with Sandy Denny (who first sang "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" with them) and then going on to fame in the realms of both folk and progressive rock in the '70s. On April 26–28th, the band celebrates its 50th anniversary with a 3-day festival in Lakewood, New Jersey featuring band members past and present. 

Ilan Eshkeri Returns 
Tuesday, April 23rd, 7pm - 8pm 
on Morricone Island with Devon E. Levins 
British composer Ilan Eshkeri returns to discuss his latest score for "The White Crow," a biopic of Russian ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, directed by Ralph Fiennes, who also stars in the film. Ilan has nearly 75 film, documentary and television credits to his name, including scores for "Kick Ass," "Stardust," "Hannibal Rising" and David Attenborough documentaries, as well as collaborations with Annie Lennox and Amon Tobin.

The Golden Pelicans 
Tuesday, April 23rd, 9pm - Midnight 
on Burn It Down! with Nate K. 
The Golden Pelicans infuse their brutal, knuckle-headed basement punk with a solid dose of the kind of guitar pyrotechnics you get from classic '80s burnout metal. They deliver the auditory equivalent of getting sprayed in the face with beer, spit, sweat, and maybe a little blood, and yet they somehow leave you wanting more. The band also plays the Glove in Brooklyn on Friday, April 19. 

McKinley James 
Saturday, May 4th, 3pm - 6pm 
on Todd-o-phonic Todd's show 
McKinley James is a 17 year old rock'n'roll guitarist and singer from Rockin' Rochester. His father, Jason Smay (JD McPherson band, Los Straitjackets, Hi-Risers) helped raise McKinley in a very musical household. He started on the Hammond B3 organ at age 7, but discovered his passion for guitar at 10. His influences range from Link Wray to Freddie King to Otis Redding. 

John S. Hall 
Monday, May 6th, Noon - 3pm 
on Three Chord Monte with Joe Belock 
John S. Hall is an American poet, author, singer and lawyer best known for his work with King Missile, his recently reactivated band who will be performing on May 11 at Hank's Saloon in Brooklyn along with Dogbowl and Ray Brown. 

The Dogs

on Burn It Down! with Nate K. 
Hitting the Michigan scene slightly after the first Molotov cocktails were tossed by the likes of the MC5 and Stooges, and arriving in NYC just prior to the crest of the CBGB "new wave," the Dogs hit a sweet spot right between the proto and the punk. Their killer 1978 EP, "Slash Your Face," is a pinnacle of raw rock 'n' roll moxie and malevolence. Burn It Down! is honored to welcome this legendary outfit to the show for a live performance in celebration of their return to active duty.
