Lea Bertucci will be talking about and performing songs from her new record, The Oracle, a hysterical collection of experimental music that centers around the voice processed through a reel-to-reel tape machine, with flute, organ, electronics and taiko drums thrumming in the backdrop.

Don continues his “21” Lounge Hellraiser ‘Month of Medleys’ with a full show of lounge bands presenting medleys of musicals, rock operas, big band tunes, and more.


Garden of Love (+ DIY Festival Special)

Peace Punk? Love Rock? Whatever you want to call it, Garden of Love represents the best of Montréal DIY. Their frenetic harmony knows just where to place every hook, where to push every button. And that guitar tone, wow! Tune in as they play songs from their new release, Love Is Coming, out on Ever/Never Records. The rest of the show will include other bands from the recent Bread and Roses DIY festival, as well as Philly's U4 Fest.


Los Microwaves

San Jose new-wavers Los Microwaves round out their East Coast revival tour with a live session on WFMU, playing a selection from their newly-released remix LP, "What's That Got To Do (With Loving You)." Joining original members of the lineup are Greg Langston on drums (No Alternative, Texedomoon), Matt Comeione on synths (Nervous Gender), and vocalist Scarlet Muñoz.

Frenchmen Street Memories: New Orleans Funk Of The '90s

The '90s were a golden age of funky music in New Orleans. While the city's R&B hit-making days were over, a new local scene was emerging, with up and coming groups adding fresh ingredients to the city's unique musical gumbo. We'll look back and listen to some of the forgotten bands of NOLA's Frenchmen Street scene.

Australia is currently a musical hotbed and Tee Vee Repairmann is one of the main reasons why. Their hook-laden punk'n'roll is winning over fans all over the world. Currently on tour with Superchunk, they will also be rocking Gonerfest and returning to NYC to play Union Pool with Brower and The Wig Outs on Tuesday 10/7. Todd is proud to host them for a second time on 10/11.

Speaking of Australia, Mudhoney's Mark Arm will be fronting "The Saints '73-'78" American tour in November (which will visit Music Hall Of Williamsburg on Friday November 14th). The band will include original Saints members Ed Kuepper and Ivor Hay, along with Mick Harvey and Peter Oxley. Mark and Todd discuss this exciting tour, Mudhoney and more!

Danny Ayala can often be found playing keyboards with The Lemon Twigs. He is now stepping out with a solo album, "Only Fools Love Again" on Brooklyn's Reminder Records. As part of an East Coast run to support this album, Danny will be playing at Union Pool on Sunday 10/5. Catch him in full live effect on The Todd-O-Phonic Todd Show.

Melvin Gibbs, one of the most innovative and creative bassists of his generation, has collaborated with a wide variety of musicians, including Ronald Shannon Jackson, Henry Rollins, Arto Lindsay, Caetano Veloso and Pete Cosey. The wide scope of his music is unmatched; he performs at the highest level in several disparate genres: Jazz, Hard Core Punk, Funk, Electronic, Hip Hop, Rock and many more. For a three-hour special feature host David Mittleman interviewed Gibbs about his remarkable career and his newest album, Amasia: Anamibia Sessions 2, released in October by Hausu Mountain Records.

Tune in Sunday, October 12th at midnight for a special All-Vinyl, All-Soundtrack Episode of Anima Mundi, in which Chinn will bury in each set a song from the soundtrack of a movie he HASN'T seen, and take calls and comments to guess the blind spot.


Bruno's B'day Bash Live from Monty Hall with Nape Neck

Help Paul Bruno celebrate another spin 'round the sun with this fundraising live broadcast! Paul will be DJing, of course, but there will also be a live set from Leeds, UK's NAPE NECK. Their debut album, The Shallowest End (due out September 19th on Dot Dash Sounds), is the kind of spiky post-punk that would surely make hometown heroes like The Mekons and Delta 5 proud. You don't want to miss this! And if you have to, you can listen! Monty Hall is located at 43 Montgomery St in Jersey City. Doors are at 2:30 PM. Five bucks gets you in.

From the cream of the thriftstore euro bins in Zwolle, The Netherlands, Jan has selected both the beautiful and the quirky stuff. Besides big European names as Klaus Wunderlich, Big Jim 'H', Harold Smart, Claus Hammer and Ady Zehnpfennig, we’ll hear the likes of Dave ‘Baby’ Cortez, Spencer Davis Group and Dr. Lonnie Smith. It will swing the pan out, like they say in Holland.


Dew Claw

Dew Claw has been the music project for which Stephen Hunking (Hypnolovewheel, XL Kings) has released his meditations on life, love, parenting and other abstract musing since 2004. The current incarnation pairs him with producer/musician Chris Xefos (pronounced Zee-fose) (King Missile, MX-80 Sound) and they stop by WFMU for a rare live performance.
Sat, October 11 – Hearty White performs "The Map" live. Two shows! One at 3 p.m. and one at 8 p.m.
