Widely known for performing early Dada sound poems like "Ursonate" by Kurt Schwitters, Jaap also composes and improvises in a truly dizzying array of combinations, runs a record label, and somehow still stops by WFMU to chat and perform live on February 17th. “Nuclear War” (1982) is one of Sun Ra’s most powerful compositions from the later part of his life. This fan favorite will be the focus of a special four-hour episode of OoD. The first hour will feature cover versions by other artists, followed by three-hours (twenty-eight versions!) of rare, live, mostly unreleased performances of this classic track by Sun Ra and his Arkestra.
