Guitarist Jimmy Rip has played with, among others, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mick Jagger and Yoko Ono, and was a longtime collaborator with Tom Verlaine, both in and out of the band Television. Jay Dee Daugherty was also in Verlaine's solo band and is best known for drumming with Patti Smith since 1975. They stop by WFMU to discuss their new project, The Music of Tom Verlaine, which debuts Sept. 30 at TV Eye in Ridgewood.

Formed in Tel Aviv, based in Paris, Sababa 5's sound is rooted in Middle Eastern rhythms and melodies, together with elements of rock and psychedelic funk. Earlier this year they released the excellent album Ça Va Ça Va on the Batov Records label. It's Sababa 5’s hafla album – a return to the Middle Eastern wedding and event celebration music that first shaped the band. Tune in for a live session with Sababa 5 on this week's show.
