Best Friends Forever - "Disaster Song"

Best Friends Forever were (are?) a female-fronted indie pop punk three-piece band from MInnesota. They have been described as "super dancy, super catchy," and as "painfully adorable indie popsters." They are fronted by Jessica Lee Seamans and Briana Jennifer Smith, who actually have been (were?) best friends since fifth grade (or at least had been as of 2009). Bri plays guitar and keyboards and sings, Jes plays bass and sings, and Joe Rand plays drums and glockenspiel. They are probably the only band ever to list both Billy Corgan and Garrison Keillor as influences. (They do have a song about how "Eisenhower is the father of the interstate highway system.")

BFF indoors

and outdoors

"Disaster Song" comes from their album, "Romance, Conflict, Adventure,"

which was released by Plan-It-X records, and which you can download here.

Here are the lyrics for this song, which took a while to figure out, mainly because of how they put the accent on the third syllable of the word "ob-li-VI-ous."

Best Friends Forever - Disaster Song

Sometimes I'm worried that I have no feelings
That I wouldn't even know it if my heart was breaking
I act as though I'm confident but am I faking?
I act as though I'm strong but my legs are shaking
And sure I'm oblivious to my physical composure
But not about my talents as a musical composer

What would I do without you in my life?

Now according to a study I'm narcissistic
Simply 'cause I plan on getting famous
And at times this type of thinking kind of has a basis
With a drummer like Joe and with Jess as the bassist
But don't get me out to be an egomaniac
You know, at times it makes me feel like crap
That's when you are the one who can make me feel better
Convince me I'm not a loser and now you like my sweater

What would I do without you in my life?

Now don't you wish that I had more opinions?
That I was better at making decisions?
I'm a good example of a Minnesotan
I'm fine, fine, fine, but I'm always overloaded
I hate to inconvenience anyone else
So instead I sacrifice myself
That's when you are the one who can make me feel better
Convince me I'm not a loser but a positive go-getter

What would I do without you in my life?
I hope we die at the same time so we don't have to find out
What it feels like to be alive if you weren't alive

What would I do without you in my life?
What would I do without you in my life?

And, for obsessives and completists (who, me?), here's a couple more cute pix, and a couple more article links. And then there's this (do not read without insulin shot at the ready).

I first heard BFF on WFMU's Beastin' the Airwaves! with Keili, so you know it's really, really, REALLY cool.
