From Joe Frank's series "Work In Progress." A woman dates war veterans
going back to World War I. An ode to the glory of war. (This Ode was
played on NPR each Memorial Day for years.) A private investigator works
on a case revealing his own adultery. A misogynist is placed on trial.
Cases of medical malpractice and madness. A man recalls his tribe's
suffering from drought and their vain appeals to the gods for rain.

Richie Unterberger and The Bug Club

Music historian Richie Unterberger has
just written the ultimate book on The Velvet Underground, "Do What You
Fear Most: The History Of The Velvet Undergound" (Omnibus). This near
800 page book details the band and their members in vivid and
scintillating detail. Richie and Todd discuss this legendary group that
has 39 pages of entries on the WFMU Playlist Search Form.
Welsh combo The The Bug Club return
to The Todd-O-Phonic Todd hot on the heels of their new Sub Pop release
"Every Single Muscle". They will be performing on The Elsewhere Rooftop
on July 1st and at the Rough Trade shop on July 3rd. Don't miss The Bug

Multi-genre guitarist Michael Gregory Jackson’s lengthy musical career
started in the 1970s underground Loft Jazz scene of New York City. Over
the years he has recorded with numerous Jazz heavyweights, including
Wadada Leo Smith, Oliver Lake and Anthony Braxton. In an interview,
Jackson discusses his ongoing artistic life and the reissue of his
originally self-released 1977 album Clarity (Moved-By-Sound).

LOVE, BURNS

Love, Burns (with one of the most important commas in rock 'n' roll) is
the solo project of longtime indie jangler Phil Sutton (Pale Lights,
Comet Gain, Velocette, et al.). Their new album Pavement Drawings
(Spinout Nuggets) has drawn comparisons to Lloyd Cole and Felt, among
other luminaries; you’ll hear plenty of songs from the album during this
live set.

Tricky

on Mona's show
Mona welcomes Tricky for a special album release party. They will
discuss tracks off, Different When It's Silent out July 17 via his own
label False Idols. This is the first Tricky album in the last 6 years,
since the untimely passing of his daughter, and according to his
manager, Alan McGee, it's the best album he's made since Maxinquaye.
Peter Zaremba and Keith Streng of The Fleshtones

on Todd-o-phonic Todd's show
2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the legendary Fleshtones! There are
celebratory concerts in various locations including The Bowery Ballroom
on Friday August 7th. Lead vocalist Peter Zaremba and guitarist Keith
Streng have been in the combo since its inception. They'll explain their
longevity as Super Rock Icons and many other things on July 18th.
Quadrature

on Transpacific Sound Paradise with Rob Weisberg
Quadrature, led by sitarist Neel Murgai, is a band that burst out of the
legendary Brooklyn Raga Massive band sessions. The band is rooted in
raga but blends the traditions with rock, jazz, and psychedelia. Their
dynamic live sets travel from contemplative solos to thunderous ragarock
anthems. Quadrature has an excellent debut album available on bandcamp,
Black Hole Blues (on the Deko Entertainment label), and they join us
for a live set on this week's show!

Club for a few weeks. But, she's agreed to do her show on July 20th from

NJ Nightbirds

Join Amanda and a team of field recordists, led by Montclair Bird Club
president Evan Cutler, as they travel to a SECRET LOCATION in the wilds
of New Jersey for nighttime birding. Owls are expected, but various
other bird voices may surprise us!
THE JACK RUBIES

on The Evan "Funk" Davies Show
Formed in East London in the mid-'80s, The Jack Rubies enjoyed a
successful run that included two LPs on TVT and regular appearances on
"modern rock" radio and 120 Minutes. After calling it quits in the early
'90s the group re-formed a few years ago and began putting out new
music on the Big Stir label, including this year’s Visions In The Bowling Alley.
Bill Mumy & Slippers
Saturday, July 25th, 3pm - 6pm
on Todd-o-phonic Todd's show
Bill Mumy came
to the eye of the public as a child actor when he appeared in episodes
of TV shows such as Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, The Munsters and
many more. He came into prominence portraying Will Robinson in the
science fiction series Lost In Space. Bill also has a musical career
which includes being one half of the novelty duo Barnes & Barnes. On
July 24th, Liberation Hall Records will be re-releasing Zabagabee: The
Best Of Barnes & Barnes (originally on Rhino). On July 25th, Bill
will discuss his incredible career with Todd-O-Phonic Todd.
Slippers are
the brainchild of Madeline BB. Their new album Slippers 08 boasts hit
after hit and can be found on Perennial Records. It's a joyous pop
celebration, sure to be loved by anyone who hears it. Check out Slippers
playing tunes from it on Todd's show on July 25th and catch them
supporting the equally wonderful Tchotchke at TV Eye on Friday July 24th
Mute Frequencies
Monday, July 27th, 8pm - 9pm
on Out Here in the Field with Amanda
Amanda welcomes the duo Mute Frequencies,,
sound artists based in London. They’ll discuss their installation
Specialist Machines, which explores our relationship to fast fashion
through the sounds of industrial sewing machines; and the results of
this year’s Sound of the Year Awards.
VAN GOTH

You've heard tracks from their debut album Is It? all
over WFMU – now hear them play live! As you surely know by now, Van
Goth is a duo that includes WFMU’s own DJ Sydney and Simon Schadler from
Choncy. All fans of sparse early-'80s inspired post-punk must tune in!
